About
I'm Gagan, the photographer behind The LensRoom — and my whole job is making sure the way your business looks matches how good it really is.

My story
I trained as a photojournalist — the kind of work where you can't ask anyone to pose or do it again. You learn to move fast, read a room, and catch the half-second where someone actually looks like themselves. That one skill ended up shaping everything I do now.
Here's how it came to be: shooting events and real moments, I kept noticing the same thing — good, interesting people going stiff the second a camera pointed at them. The photojournalism training turned out to be the fix, so I pointed it at the problem most businesses have: headshots and branding photos that finally look like the people in them. For the last five years, that's been the whole focus, here in Calgary.
How I work: planning comes first. Before the camera comes out, we talk about where these photos are going — the website, LinkedIn, a pitch deck, a hiring page — and I build the shoot around that. It means you leave with images you'll actually use, not a folder you scroll past.
In that time I've photographed hundreds of people — founders, advisors, lawyers, trades, and whole teams — and the thing I care about most hasn't changed: that the person in the photo looks like the person you'd actually meet. Confident, approachable, real, never a stiff corporate cut-out.
Based in Calgary and shooting across the city, with a growing roster of business, team, and professional clients.

The experience
Almost everyone tells me they hate having their photo taken. That's the normal starting point, and it's my job — not yours — to solve it. I direct the whole way through: where to stand, what to do with your hands, when to breathe. You'll see the first few frames on the back of the camera within a minute or two, so you know it's going well.
By the ten-minute mark most people have forgotten to be nervous. That's usually where the best frame comes from.
The process
01
A quick call to map out where the photos will live and what you need them to do — before the camera comes out.
02
Directed the whole way — posing, expression, pacing. You'll see frames on the back of the camera as we go, so you know it's working.
03
You pick your favourites from a private gallery afterward — never a rushed decision under pressure on the day.
04
Professionally retouched, in web + high-res — headshots within 48 hours, team days in about 5, branding in 2–3 weeks.
Why me
01
Headshots, team days and branding sessions all come from the same person — so your library looks like it belongs together.
02
Rates are on the site. You'll know what a shoot costs before you email, and the quote matches the invoice.
03
Website, socials, decks, press, ads — the images are yours to use for your business. No licensing add-ons later.
04
You're directed from the first frame to the last. Nobody has to know what to do with their hands — that part is on me.
